Monticello Youth Baseball Camp Opportunity

The Monticello High School and youth coaches have created a baseball camp for youth players from ages 9U-14U through Monticello Community Education. Baseball players will be focusing on throwing and hitting each night, along with one other selected skill (infield, outfield, pitching, base running). Space is limited based on current requirements and guidelines set by the State of Minnesota, Monticello Schools Monticello Community Education. This may open as guidelines loosen and allow gatherings of larger numbers. If interested, please go to the Monticello Community Education website below to register.

Monticello Youth Baseball Update 6-6-20

As some of you are already aware, MYAS and Gopher State Baseball League have communicated the plan to start a Gopher State Summer Baseball League. The Monticello Baseball Association does not feel it can create a fair opportunity for all association members in the timeline created by MYAS and therefore will not be organizing teams through the MBA.

The Gopher State Summer League plans to run from July 6th through August 14th. The association will be treating this league similar to the Gopher State fall ball league. Coaches can contact players and create a team anyway they would like. It would be the coach’s responsibility to register the team through MYAS and collect the money from the families. They will also be responsible for scheduling games, fields, umpires and ordering uniforms. The Monticello Baseball Association will borrow equipment to the coach along with providing game balls at our cost. We will also give guidance on how to schedule fields, umpires and order uniforms. With this, coaches, players and parents will also have to follow the current guidelines provided by the State of Minnesota, City of Monticello, Monticello Schools and MYAS.

The link to the information for the MYAS Gopher State Summer League is here: http://myas.org/baseball/2020-gopher-state-summer-baseball-league-july-august/

As a reminder, this is still a proposed plan by MYAS and is with the requirement that the State of Minnesota loosens guidelines to allow games to be played in youth sports.

Monticello Youth Baseball Update 5-28-2020

Monticello Baseball Families,

It is with sadness that we must announce the MBA board has made an incredibly tough decision to cancel the 2020 youth baseball season. This includes all ages and levels. We do not want to see an entire season go by without an opportunity to grow and develop our players or share the fun and excitement of the game with friends & family members. With the current CDC guidelines, the canceling of many activities in our local parks and no clear timeline as to when we can access the fields, we felt this was the best option for everyone involved moving forward.

We will be issuing full refunds within the next 7-10 days.

With that said, there is some hope that baseball can be played this summer. The MBA will remain committed to monitoring the situation with our schools and city parks, in addition to recommendations from the state. If a scenario presents itself that will allow us to resume baseball activities that will keep our players, coaches and families safe, while also being a fun and positive experience, the MBA will work to get our kids back on the field. We encourage all of our members to take advantage of the great weather and get outside with your sons and daughters. We have training videos available here (a lot of these can be done at home, in the front yard) and encourage you to continue to work on baseball until we can meet on the field again.

Thank you for your continued support!
