Interested in umpiring for some of our Monticello youth baseball games?

Hello Monticello Baseball Families,

The Monticello Baseball Association is looking for anyone age 14 and older who would be interested in umpiring for some of our youth baseball games. We have an umpire coordinator that schedules umpires for our games, but there are times when he cannot get an umpire. In those situations, we like to have a list of people interested in helping out the association and fill in for those games. If you or anyone you know are willing to help out, please email with the name, email address and age group(s) the person is interested in umpiring.

Current pay is $50/game and they typically are less than 2 hours. Age groups range from 9U through 14U and the requirement is that the umpire be 2 years older than the age group umpiring. We do have a training video on our website in the Umpires tab. If we get enough requests, we may also be able to schedule a training session with our umpire coordinator.

If you know someone who would like to umpire on a more consistent basis, please let us know as we may be able to work something out. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you for supporting the Monticello Baseball Association.

Registration is now open!!

Monticello Baseball Families,

Registration for the 2019 season is open for both players and coaches. Go to and click on the registration tab at the top of the page to complete registration.

Reminder, tryouts are being held at the Monticello High School on Saturday, March 16th (tryout times will published soon), if your child wishes to play competitive (traveling) baseball this season, they need to be registered before the tryout date. Coaches please sign up as soon as possible so we can determine the number of teams.

For age groups 11U-14U(5th Grade - 8th Grade), we will again be considering a second competitive team at each level based on numbers and interest. During registration you will be given an option of choosing Competitive or Recreational. Choosing Competitive means your child is committed to playing on a traveling team, if chosen, which typically plays 16 games, 2 tournaments and practices 1 or 2 times per week. We limit competitive teams to 11 players, so we do look for a commitment from these players. Choosing Recreational would mean your child would play approximately 16 games locally with Becker, Big Lake and Clear Lake and practice 1 time per week. In both cases, there will be a few practices a week before games begin and will be determined by coaches.

**New 6U Level**

We have a new 6U level which is open to 5 and 6 year old boys and girls finishing kindergarten. It will be an introduction to baseball skills with practices and games on Tuesday nights for 1 hour. Kids will receive a Dri-Fit tee shirt and Richardson hat. This will replace the Monticello Community Ed program and we would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to take on this program. We feel it will be a great addition to our association.

**Heggies Fundraiser**

We will be doing a Heggies Pizza fundraiser again this year. There is a $25 fundraising deposit in the registration and you can earn that back by selling 10 pizzas. If you sell 20 pizzas you will get an extra $25 for a total of $50 in return. This fundraiser was very successful and we would like to thank everyone again who participated last year. We raised enough money to purchase new training and development tools for our teams. Some of those items were new batting tees, flight control balls, weighted training balls, sock nets and a new portable mound for the city fields. With the addition of these items, teams and coaches are able to be more efficient in teaching skills that help the kids enjoy the game and be successful as they grow and develop.

We will also be eliminating evaluations for the 6U and 8U levels. During registration we will be asking for the child’s skill level. The choices will be Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced with a short description. Please choose the best fit and be as honest as possible as this helps us create fairly matched teams. Even though scores are not kept and it is a modified game at this level, we want to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support!
